Mercenaries, the much beloved mode in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, which had previous iterations in the past games, will have it's own standalone version of all the classic levels with old and current characters, on the Nintendo 3DS. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D was one of many games that showcased the power of Nintendo's new handheld at last year's E3, with no exact release date. Today my friends, we have gotten that release date, which is this summer on the 28th.
Capcom has put out a trailer to announce this. All in all, it's pretty damn cheesy, ha. Check it out!
Along with some information about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS exclusive, Capcom has also given us a new trailer from the event in Miami, Florida. Before we get to the trailer let's give you the deets on what's been confirmed!
Almost all of the best characters from all of the Resident Evil games are playable such as Chris Redifield, Claire Redfield, Jack Krauser, Rebecca Chambers, Hunk, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker. With all of these chracters confirmed, it's not a bad idea to reminisce the old school games, so that's why, as most of us all know, is that levels from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 will be making a return in this game - specificially the ones that were featured in the Mercenaries modes in both titles.
With this game being accessibile to newcomers, Capcom had to put some features to appeal. One feature that most games have and even gamers have been asking for in Resident Evil is the ability to move in shoot, letting go of the old formula of the old games where you only stand and shoot, which has been present since the old days. A first for Mercenaries though is the capabilites of customizing your characters, whether it's weapon layout to skills! Like Resident Evil 5, The Mercenaries 3D will have Co-Op; online Co-Op to be exact, via Wi-Fi and Ad-Hoc!
Every Nintendo 3DS game that we've covered here seem to have something that surely is impressive and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is without a doubt one of them. Me, I'd much prefer Resident Evil: Revelations and can't wait to see more of it when it comes closer to its release.
Anyway, here's the trailer from the Capcom Captivate Event. Also, be sure to check out the screenshots for the game right here, coming straight from Capcom
The more I see, the more excited I am to exterminate zombies that are slowly walking and terrorizing the streets of Raccoon City in this new spin on the Resident Evil franchise. Today, Capcom has released a new trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, entailing who we will be playing as and what objectives we need to complete when playing as either the U.S.S. (Umbrella Security Service) or Government Spec Ops.
The role of the U.S.S. is to contain the details about the outbreak; exterminating all police officers, covering your tracks - to not let any information about the situation going on in the city. With that said, one of your targets is actually Leon S. Kennedy, the hero from Resident Evil 2. Obviously, Spec Ops will be trying to uncover the truth about the outbreak in Raccoon City.
With Leon, being your target, this gives all players the oppurtunity to rewrite the history of Resident Evil by killing him. In the end of the trailer, Leon gets assaulted by a U.S.S. soldier the killing him. Who knows how fans will take this, but it's new take and can also get some interest from franchise veterans.
Capcom is currently holding a press event in Miami right now and with that said, expect more Capcom news a bit later today. Anyway, nothing screams Capcom without one of their successful franchises, such as Resident Evil. With all eyes on Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, it's pretty definite that this game is going to be on everyone's radar!
Today, Capcom confirmed that there will be a whole set of features such as being able to play as zombies and B.O.W.'s in the game. With more features confirmed, as quoted below, it's hard not to get excited on this new spin for the franchise.
Team based shooter set in the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe.
Triple threat battle as zombies and B.o.w’s add to the action.
Compete alone in Campaign mode as an umbrella Security Service member or in a four player co-op team battle.
Rewrite the history of the raccoon City outbreak. revisit classic moments from Resident EvilTM 2 and Resident EvilTM 3 and watch events unfold from the perspective of the umbrella Security Service.
Return of favorite RE enemies, iconic landmarks and characters, including leon S. Kennedy who is on your hit list to eliminate.
Competitive online multiplayer modes provide a unique gaming experience thanks to the three corner combat between the umbrella Security Service, uS Special ops and threat of zombies and B.o.w’s.
It's also been confirmed that RE: ORC will be released this Winter for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

Resident Evil, my personal favorite franchise of the old days when survival horror was good has turned 15 years old this year and with that, Capcom gives us a trailer to show us what's up next for the successful franchise.
In the trailer that we see, the infamous Albert Wesker gives us a monologue about how powerful the viruses in the previous games has always been, dating back from Resident Evil for the original Playstation to Resident Evil 5 for the current-gen. After his little speech, we see 4 "bites" of what will be released this year, including Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4 ports for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in HD, and Resident Evil: Revelations, which is what I'm personally excited for, that will be released for the Nintendo 3DS as well.
At the very end of the trailer, we see a very small snippet of that upcoming Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, being developed by Slant Six. What we do see portrayed in the small amount of time we're given is Leon S. Kennedy, the hero from Resident Evil 2 just arriving in Raccoon City, seeing the devastation happening before his eyes, along with what was Mr. X, another boss that was in the same installment.
Enough of you reading what I have to say, just check it out!
