Gears of War 3 Delayed Until at Least Fall 2011

Put those chainsaw guns away kiddies it's going to be a while until you get your hands on Gears of War 3. Cliff Bleszinski announced on the Jimmy Fallon show that Gears was scheduled to hit 360's on April 8, 2011. Shortly after however Microsoft announced it would be dropping on April 5, 2011. Now, well now it's going to be released sometime in the fall. According to Microsoft this has nothing to do with the games development but simply due to marketing.

Microsofts statement reads as follows.

"Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011. The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011. However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."

This isn't unfair reasoning necessarily, but why wait until now to announce as big a delay as this. Epic's other game Bulletstorm is set to blow minds (and countless body parts) away on February 22, 2011. Perhaps Gears was delayed so that Bulletstorm wouldn't be eclipsed by the monster that is Gears of War. There are countless reasons that could be the cause of the pushback we may never know what they are, but please feel free to post conspiracy theories, etc etc and let us know what you think about this.

Ron Gilbert Joins Double Fine (Now It's More Like Triple Fine)

Back in the heyday of PC gaming LucasArts was one of the top dogs. Whether it was with Star Wars games like "X-Wing" "Tie Fighter" or their comedic adventure games like "Day of the Tentacle" "Maniac Mansion 2" and "Full Throttle". Two of the devs from LucasArts, Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert went on to become renowned funny-men of the comedic genre. Things have now gone full circle as Ron Gilbert has joined Schafer at Double Fine Games which is a major pickup for the San Francisco based developer. Gilbert has more recently been known for his work on the smash hit "DeathSpank" while Schafer and Double Fine are at work on multiple "bite sized" titles. Their upcoming title "Costume Quest" will be released on Halloween and from the way it looks, DF will make more money on that than they did on Brutal Legend. (Sad Face)

Rumor: More PS2 HD/3D Remakes On The Way?

A new trend in videogames are the remastered game collections. The latest being the "Sly Cooper Collection" in HD. Before that it was God of War and next year it'll be the Team Ico collection. If you are a fan/supporter of these HD remakes then you will love what is in store. "Supposedly". European gaming magazine JeuxVideo is reporting that more PS2 remakes are on the way. The rumored games that will be remade are Mortal Kombat, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and Ray-Man. Like most of the remakes the price points will be $30-40 which is a price that cat burglars only dream of.

Ten Minutes of BioShock Infinite Gameplay

Well, BioShock Infinite isn't going to drop until 2012 but be joyous, Irrational Games has released ten minutes of gameplay footage, and it is something to behold. The sky high gameplay will induce vertigo as you sail miles above the ground. The main character Booker DeWitt has more character than previous BioShock characters which is a welcome addition, and the new "Big Daddy" type enemies make those of old look like cute kitties. Check out the gameplay footage below.

The only thing I worry about is my horrible fear of heights. Some of the rail grinding stuff in the footage made me cringe.

Comic Legend Stan Lee Is Backing Video Games

California is currently in the process of working on a violent video game law that would make the sell of violent video games illegal to children. It's now a big deal in the supreme court and gaining some motion, this can't happen. I could go into a page and a half rant about how that would be infringing on the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America... but gaming site Kotaku has the whole thing covered (Click Here).

The point of me writing this article is that now we have another strong voice in this battle, Comic Book Legend Stan Lee. Lee for those of you who don't know (shame on you) created some of the most popular super heroes of all time, characters like The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, and the X-Men, has stood up to defend the rights of video games.

"I'm writing to urge gamers everywhere to take a stand and defend both the First Amendment and the rights of computer and video game artists by joining the Video Game Voters Network (VGVN). My memory has always been lousy and it's not improving with age. But it's good enough to remember a time when the government was trying to do to comic books what some politicians now want to do with video games: censor them and prohibit their sales. It was a bad idea half a century ago and it's just as bad an idea now. And you can do something about it."

To read the whole article head over to VGVN (Video Game Voters). It's really quite amazing how many parallels can be drawn between what comic's went through back in the early 50's to what video games are going through now. If you love video games, if you love defending the constitution then join Stan Lee and gamers all around the country in opposing this law.
