Space Channel 5 Part 2, Sega Bass Fishing, Back Again

Sega recently released the Dreamcast classics Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi via Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, this made many people happy. They look to continue this trend by release two more great Dreamcast games in early 2011. The only fishing game I can ever remember enjoying, Sega Bass Fishing, and the incredible Space Channel 5 Part 2. Space Channel 5 is perhaps most famous due to the fact that it had late pop legend Michael Jackson add vocals as well as dance moves to one of the levels.

Both games are set to be released on the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. While this is good news this time would still be better spent working on the Dreamcast 2. Get on it Sega!

R.I.P. Krome Studios 1999-2010

In the past two years numerous game companies have gone under due to the financial crisis. Amazing devs like Factor 5, Midway, and Free Radical are gone now. Another studio has joined that list. Krome Studios: the studio behind Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and flops like "Viva Pinata: Party Animals", "Hellboy: Science of Evil" and most recently "Legend of the Guardians". When the studios resume comes to mind it was inevitable and shocking that Krome didn't fall earlier. In August Krome cut 100 of its staff and closed its Adelaide studio and the remaining staff were let go on the 15th.

To all those who worked at Krome I wish you luck with future endeavors.

Happy Birthday Nintendo

Ahh 1985, I wasn't alive back then. Because of this I can't reminisce about that year, so I'll just assume it was all drugs and hair metal. But that is the year we also got the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

While the console didn't get a widespread release until 1986 (the same year it was released in Europe) it was in late 1985 at the FAO Schwarz in Manhattan, New York (as part of an advance market test) that the first of millions of the machines would fall into the hands of eager consumers.

Now as I stated I wasn't born until the beginning of the dark ages known as the 90's but I still owned an NES, and it unarguably had one of the strongest catalogs of launch games of all time. This included classics like Excitebike, Duck Hunt, and Ice Climbers. It also gave us some of the most beloved video game characters, nay, icons we know today like Link, Samus, and of course the Mario Bros.

The NES lasted 10 years in the U.S market ceasing production in 1995, and in that decade it managed to mold a foundation for video games that has carried into 2010. So lets all give Nintendo a song and a birthday cake (this time it's not a lie).

Angry Birds Launches on Android (for free)

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. As someone who traded in their iPhone for an Android back in March earlier this year, one of the things I miss is the quantity of high quality games that Apple has out there. Sad to say when it comes to gaming on ones phone Android kind of blows. But that is slowly (very slowly) changing, after being in beta for about a month or so the full version of the insanely addictive iPhone game "Angry Birds" is now available to all Android users. The best part though, it's free, now of course as one would expect this means that it is ad supported but if that bugs you then you'll be able to get rid of the ad's for a fee in a future update.

Rovio made a strange choice in how to get the full version released, rather than use the Android market they released it on the app store GetJar, which I'll admit I hadn't heard about until this morning. I was lucky enough to download it before things got hectic, just a few minutes ago a friend tried to download it and the GetJar site is completely down, so you may have to wait a while to actually download it.

To say that Angry Birds is a great game is an understatement, you will be up late at night trying to get three stars on every pig smashing level. And I am equally as happy to announce that the game translates perfectly to Android devices, the real point of this whole post is that if you have an Android (or iPhone) then you have absolutely no reason not to download this game.

Silicon Knights Working on X-Men: Destiny

Expecting Too Human 2? Well you may have to wait a bit longer, according to it's developers Silicon Knights the series is still planned to be a trilogy, but there is one project before that moves on. And this one involves more claws. Yes, according to Activision, Silicon Knights the acclaimed developers of games like Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness will be taking control of the upcoming X-Men game.

In addition to this news IGN has released a reveal trailer which shows that the game will have a choice system. Possible alliances with evil mutants, nerd head exploding now. With New York Comic-Con starting this week we can hope for some more announcements sometime very soon.

So what do you think, Eternal Darkness is hands down one of the greatest games ever, Too Human kind of tanked though. Do you feel comfortable with Silicon Knights taking on the X-Men?
