Suda 51 Unveils Next Game Lollipop Chainsaw

Coming off the heels of Shadows of the Damned, Suda 51 and Akira Yamaoka are once again collaborating on a Grasshopper Manufacture game. This next one is odd even for Suda, Lollipop Chainsaw is a third-person survival horror game starring Juliet Sterling, a teenage cheerleader killing zombies with a chainsaw, yep, let that sink in.

A few screenshots of the game have been released courtesy of Famitsu.

Masahiro Shidaro-formerly of Tecmo-will be producing Lollipop Chainsaw, Suda 51 will serve as creative director, and Akira Yamaoka is once again providing the soundtrack.

The game appears to be a spiritual successor to No More Heroes, which is currently on hiatus. After the lackluster sales of Shadows of the Damned, there's a possiblility this game may not make it over to the States. Fingers crossed that this isn't the case, cause more Suda can only be a good thing.

Shadows of the Damned Delayed

Originally slated for a June 7th release, EA and Grasshoper Manufacture have announced that Shadows of the Damned has unfortunately been delayed. The good thing though, is that it's not by much. It has now been pushed back to the end of the monh with the new release date, which is June 21st.

It's understandable that it has been delayed due the recent events that happened in Japan, but with a great set of icons from the game industry; Shinji Mikami, Suda 51, and Akira Yamaoka, it gives me the feeling that it'll be worth the wait.

Shadows of the Damned to raise hell June 7

Today at the Game Developer's Conference, EA and Grasshopper (who are collaborating for this title) announced that Shadows of the Damned will release this summer, on June 7th.

In case you don't know anything about this game, let's fill you in! Suda 51, the man behind cult hits such as Killer7 and No More Heroes is behind this game, but that's not all if that gets you interested. As some know, Shinji Mikami, the man behind the legendary survival horror franchise "Resident Evil" left Capcom after Resident Evil 4 for better things. The same goes for Akira Yamaoka, who had worked on the music for the Silent Hill franchise when he was employed at Konam, who left after Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Little did we know, it had been confirmed that all 3 will work together and collaborate with EA to make this; Shadows of the Damned.

Shadows of the Damned had been announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show, aka TGS 2010, but not much has been revealed since, besides it's first trailer:

During the unveiling of the game's release date, it's been said that Shadows of the Damned was inspired by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez films, such as Grindhouse. They also stated that it will "forever change the way gamers perceive puzzles, combat, and action.".

As a fan of all 3 and fun over the top awesomeness and hilarity, I want to see more of this as time goes on!
