E3 2011 Trailer Reveals XCOM Release Date

Originally revealed at last year's E3, XCOM was one interesting looking game. In my opinion, I actually think it flew under everyone's radar. I guess it's probably because that, even during it's first unveiling, that it wouldn't come out until 2012. That's not stopping 2K Marin from putting up a trailer to remind everyone or at least turn heads over to their direction because this game will probably be one of the best games, in my opinion, to come out in 2012.

XCOM is set to release on March 6, 2012.

One thing that I do find very interesting is the fact that the fans of the original are really having a huge backlash against 2K Games for making this reimaging of the original into a FPS. Honestly, having not played the original, this looks awesome, but it doesn't seem like everyone's too happy about this.

Saints Row: The Third Gets a Release Date and E3 Trailer

With E3 coming in just less than a week, it's usual that some developers and publishers will sometimes reveal some things here and there just before the expo begins. This time around, Volition Inc. and THQ have unveiled the official release date for Saints Row: The Third. That date is November 15, 2011. Along with the release date, a new trailer has been released for the public to see. Even though it's all CG, one could assume that the next installment is going to kick even more ass.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions Coming to North America on May 24th

In a press release, Koei Tecmo has just confirmed that North America will be receiving Dead or Alive: Dimensions, the Nintendo 3DS exclusive on May 24th!

In a mini-announcement in the press release for Nintendo fans as well, there will be a special Metroid level where Ridley (from the Metroid games) will make an appearance and even attack players in the middle of battle! Even all characters from every Dead or Alive game will be available in this installment of the game.

One feature, specifically meant for the capabilites of the Nintendo 3DS is Spot Pass, which is a first for the Dead or Alive franchise. As quoted, by the press release:

"Also new to DEAD OR ALIVE Dimensions is the ability to use social applications of the Nintendo 3DS system in order to add new depths to gameplay. One such example is by unlocking special character figurines through the THROWDOWN game mode distributed by Team NINJA exclusively via SpotPass™. This mode will allow you to receive and challenge profiles from other fighters you come across via StreetPass™. By competing in these battles you will be able to unlock the DEAD OR ALIVE figurines to add to your arsenal. Exclusively utilizing SpotPass you can also collect up to 34 new costumes which will be distributed via SpotPass from May 24 - June 26, however never fear as if you miss a costume then you have a second chance to be able to complete your collection, as the SpotPass distribution will be repeated again from June 28 - July 31."

Dead or Alive: Dimensions is really shaping up for the Nintendo 3DS and can really also be competition against the handheld's launch title, Super Street Fighter IV 3D!

Minecraft Officially Releasing on 11/11/11

With the success of Minecraft still on-going (and the fact that some people actually think they're playing a "full" game), it's finally getting something that's been long ovderdue, an official release date. After so long, with the game currently still in beta, it's about damned time it got out of that stage of development.

"It's a bit tricky to really do a release for Minecraft as we keep updating it all the time. For one, the version we deem as the "full version" won't be very different at all from what the game was like a week ago, and we'll keep adding features after the release as well, so it's really more of a milestone when we finally get rid of the Beta label, and some kind of goal for us to work towards. The plan is to be open with this and try to get people to cheer us on as much as possible, but to be open with the fact that the game won't change much at the actual release day," says "Notch," the creator of Minecraft.

Indie games have been going mainstream and Minecraft is without a doubt something that is inspirational to other indie devs. Indies do need to start off somewhere!
