Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Use New Game Engine

The two best bits of news surrounding Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are that it's coming out next year, and that it's being built on a whole new gaming engine. Bethesda confirmed via tweet that the games engine is "brand new... and spectacular!"

Now while the average gamer may not find this news all that interesting, the gamers who follow stuff like this closely know that this means we won't be stuck with the decrepit "Gamebryo" engine, which has been known for being horrendously glitchy, and has been the structure for Fallout 3 and previous Elder Scroll games, as well as a few others such as Epic Mickey. Bethesda's community man Nick Breckon also stated in a tweet that the engine is being built in company.

I for one am overjoyed to hear this news, both Elder Scrolls IV, and Fallout 3 floored me, but the constant glitching more than once took me out of the experience. Look forward to Skyrim hitting store shelves on November 11, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Final Fantasy XIV Team Restructuring, PS3 Version Delayed Indefinitely

Final Fantasy, you love it or you hate it. I love the story driven iterations, some love the MMO's versions, I do not. Still those fans now have something to be upset about. The PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV which was supposed to be released March of next year is now delayed indefinitely.

What has caused this delay, the answer is because the PC version is horrible. Yoichi Wada Square Enix CEO released a statement to the FFXIV community apologizing for the game not being very good. He went on to say that the team is restructuring, with some new leadership coming in. Producer Hiromichi Tanaka is out, with Naoki Yoshida taking over as lead producer/game director, other positions are also being restaffed with the team working on a new direction for the game. Until this happens FFXIV will continue its free trial period.

So rather than base the PS3 version on a horrible mess of a game Square Enix decided to hold off until something better was made. Thus sparing us from a terrible PS3 game.

Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception Revealed

Naughty Dog earlier today released some new details on Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. The game was revealed this morning but screenshots are just now starting to come out.... I'm sorry I was busy looking at the pretty.

Arne Meyer, community strategist at Naughty Dog posted the following details and screenshots (as well as a short teaser trailer) on the Playstation Blog. Nathan Drake's newest adventure will have him travelling through the Arabian Desert and other locations around the world that will show off the gorgeous visuals the Uncharted series has become known for. The game is also scheduled for a late 2011 release.

In the "are you really surprised category." Meyer went on to reveal that Uncharted 3 will be presented in Stereoscopic 3D. Now I have quite a vocal disdain for 3D in my games, but the Uncharted series is so visually flawless I'm genuinely interested in seeing this game in three dimensions.

As if all this Uncharted goodness wasn't enough, Naughty Dog will be bringing Uncharted 3 to "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on December 13 to give a live demo. Gahhhhhhh!!!

My "Top Games of All Time" list is a fickle mistress so I give no jokes when I say Uncharted 2: Honor Among Thieves tops that list. So needless to say, I'm excited for this one.

Rumor: Uncharted 3 Reveal At VGA's?

If you or anyone you know owns a Playstation 3 you've probably played Uncharted. The Indiana Jones-esque action adventure series has received widespread/universal love over the story, gameplay, and absolutely mind blowing visuals and launched Nolan North into superstardom. Uncharted 2 was out last year and was crowned Game of the Year from numerous gaming publications. Kotaku is reporting that Sony is planning on revealing Uncharted 3 to the world on December 11th at Spike TV's Video Game Awards show. This may just be a rumor but Sony has said that they intend to announce a PS3 exclusive so large that it is getting it's own event. If Uncharted 3 is actually announced than practically every PS3 owner will be reduced to a Justin Beiber fan. This is the only time where that might be acceptable.

Mass Effect 2 PS3 Details Revealed

Details on the PS3 version of the hit RPG Mass Effect 2 have been revealed. As suspected the DLC that has come out for the 360 version will be included. The biggest question is of course how will PS3 gamers be introduced to the story of Mass Effect 1 since it was published by Microsoft and obviously won't make it to Sonys big black box. The answer will disappoint you. Gamers will have the option to play an interactive comic that will connect ME1 to ME2. Also the "6 Hour Exclusive Mission" piece has been revealed and was little more than a translation error. BioWare producer Jesse Houston said that the 6 hours is all the DLC combined. Mass Effect 2 ships out in January for the Playstation 3.
