I can't wait to get my hands on Sleeping Dogs it's looking like it will be one hell of a thrill ride.
The countdown begins for one the biggest RPG titles of all time Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII-2. Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be the second of its series to feature a true sequel the other being Final Fantasy X-2. I’ve been a pretty die-hard fan of the series and the story of Final Fantasy 13 is indeed one with similarities to the great Final Fantasy X. With the main protagonist being female while carrying the traits of the one the Square Enix’s most iconic character’s Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII but disappearing much like another Final Fantasy X protagonist Tidus. Seeing as this is a sequel it’s correct to assume game like FFX-2 will have aspects going into areas most who have played FFXIII will recognize alongside a few others new zones. Game will feature Serah Farron which is Lightning’s younger sister and a future youth time traveler known as Noel Kreiss who joins with her to find Lightening. The game hits stores in the US January 31, 2012, AU February 2, 2012, EU February 3, 2012. Japan had the privilege of receiving the game early but finally will soon be available to be played on your XBOX360 and PS3 consoles!
Final Fantasy XIII-2 has a release window for the US. According to Siliconera the sequel to Final Fantasy XIII will drop in the US, January of 2012. This is roughly a month after the Japanese release of the game.
Only the second Final Fantasy game to get a direct sequel-the first being Final Fantasy X-2-FFXIII-2 promises to address some of the problems people had with the first game.
XIII-2 will feature a more open world which will allow for more exploration, the return of towns, and more action elements such as a jump button and QTE events some which occur mid-battle.
The story is a direct sequel from XIII's so if you didn't enjoy the story of the first game then the second may not change your mind. The story follows Lightning's sister Serah, as well as a new character Noel.
Square Enix is undoubtedly one of the biggest publishers in the industry. When it comes to MMO's though they've never had the best track record. Final Fantasy XI was never a smash success (though it did gain a cult following), and Final Fantasy XIV... well we all know how that worked out. Still Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada still believes they can make money off the MMO realm.
A transcript posted yesterdays of Square's May 13 earning call -Translated by Andriasang- Wada stated that they do have a new MMO title in development and that they hope to release more info about it this fiscal year. No word on what this new title is, but it's something seperate from their current games. The belief is that having two-to-three subscription based games will help the company maintain a cash flow.
In all of this news, Final Fantasy XIV is still broken. Wada did bring up those problems and illude to the fixes taking longer than expected, but a "target" is in site.
Hitman seems to be the new hype now since the first teaser pictures started coming up. Well, we were promised that at E3 2011, we'll be getting our very first look at a game, years in the making. We're not getting much until then, but it's not the biggest news out there, but the next Hitman game may have gotten it's official title.
Square-Enix has recently just trademarked the title, "Hitman: Absolution," for the long-awaited game. Originally going under the name Hitman 5, without a subtitle, it was long rumored for the game to even go in development since a few years ago, but for Hitman fans, all I have to say is, "Rejoice!!!"
