Max Payne 3's Debut Trailer Gets Released, Multiplayer to Be Included

It's been a while since we've heard much about Max Payne 3, with the exception of screenshots that were released from time to time. Just last week, Rockstar Games officially released the first poster for the next installment of the Max Payne franchise. In addition to the poster release, Rockstar Games has also confirmed that Max Payne 3 will release sometime in March 2012 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. The game will also take place right after Max Payne 2, that was developed by Remedy Entertainment, along with the first game. Sure this seems awesome already, but this isn't stopping them with the hype train that many will be jumping into really soon.

Today, as promised since last week, the debut trailer has been released which has caused some nostalgia for many fans; from the music, to Max's narrative that we've come to know and love, and the character of Max himself! In addition, we also get the dark, gritty, and grimy feel of the story and the location, along with what's going on in Sao Paulo. Although, one thing has had many fans worried; Max's look when the game was debuted a few years ago via Game Informer magazine. As explained by Rockstar Games, we will be seeing flashbacks here and there, from which we will be seeing Max's look transition as time goes on as he drops into the downward spiral, which he goes through in the previous game. This time around, it looks like it gets worse for him.

Check out the trailer right below!

One of the first things that will be a unique experience that many are very curious about is the inclusion of multiplayer. As quoted by the post at Rockstar Games' "Newswire" section on their site:

In addition to an expansive single-player campaign, Max Payne 3 will also be the first entry in the series to introduce a thorough and engrossing multiplayer experience. In a unique twist, Max Payne 3 multiplayer delivers a compelling experience that dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match. Along with traditional multiplayer modes, Max Payne 3 will also include a deep reward and leveling system, persistent clans and multiple strategic load-out options.

As a fan of the original games, I'm not sure how multiplayer will be (as previously confirmed in EDGE magazine some months back), let alone, Max Payne always being a single player experience. Like many of you, I'm a bit more anxious to see more news that Rockstar Games will release in the next few months. I'm still not exactly down with Max's Bruce Willis look though...

RUMOR - Alan Wake: Night Springs to be Next Title in Franchise, Xbox Live Arcade Title?

Very recently, Remedy had confirmed to Joystiq after being rumored that an Alan Wake 2 was indeed in development, according to an artist's resume after some speculation. Fact of the matter is that Remedy had told Joystiq that the next installment in the franchise was in fact being in development, but it was neither a sequel or form of DLC that was being worked on. Since then, many wondered what this project was all about to begin with, until an Xbox Live Arcade fan site, allegedly acquired some information.

The fan site, xblafans.com, has talked to what they call, "an extremely trusted source," about what many speculated about. Alan Wake: Night Springs was "confirmed" by this trusted source and also had given the site some screenshots, but xblafans.com was told not to put them up at all at this time.

The fact that this game is its own standalone game did throw me off a little, not to mention an Xbox Live Arcade game, but you never know. Remedy might just have something up its sleeves. It better be good!

New Alan Wake in Development, Neither Sequel or Form of DLC

Yesterday, we figured out that a new Alan Wake game was in development after seeing an artist's resume via Joystiq. From there we saw "Alan Wake 2" titled as one prjoect that is underway, but it's actually pretty interesting that Remedy, the Finnish developer behind the original and Max Payne games (not including the 3rd one, which is being handled by Rockstar Games), has had a statement regarding this rumor and that info has spread just like that.

Oskari Häkkinen of Remedy has stated today that there is indeed a new Alan Wake game on the way, but it's odd how Häkkinen described it. The following is the full quote from Remedy, replying to Joystiq's first discovery about this new project:

So referring to your most recent Joystiq post ... It's awesome to hear you say that Alan Wake appears in your hearts – I've read through all the responses on your site which is fueled with positive responses. It really would seem Alan Wake is very close to the hearts of the fans out there, and to ours too. To that point, it's a shame that this news leaked before our official announcement which will of course include the visuals and information to support it. Well, now that the cat is out of the bag, we owe it to you and the fans to shed a little more light before we get the chance to officially show them what the guys have been up to.

Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC. The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually SHOW YOU.

We are really excited about this project which a slice of our team has been working on for the last months. It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this installment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board.

We can't wait to show you more, bear with us. Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess. More coming soon!

So there you have it, straight from Remedy. This next installment is neither a sequel nor DLC, which leads to my assumption of this next installment to possibly a sort of spin-off. Only time will tell as we sit here and wait for an official unveiling.

Alan Wake 2 in the Works? Appears on Artist's Resume

Seems like the easiest way to tell if a title is in development and if someone's aboard the project is by checking their resume nowadays, eh? Althea Suarez Gata, a CG character animator has listed, via his LinkedIn profile, "Alan Wake 2" as a project that he's working on, discovered by Joystiq. His position for the project that he's working on is titled as, "In-Game Cinematic." Obviously sounding like real-time cutscenes, that's all there is about this potential game that could be revealed at E3 2011. Then again, if this has just recently started, then it's a bit too early to expect something like that.

As a fan of the original game, I'm pretty damn excited about this! Alan Wake was pretty underrated, in my opinion, and ever since there were talks about a sequel, I couldn't help but keep my eyes and ears open for such a well written and story-driven game.

Rockstar Games Releases Screenshots, Max Payne 3 Details Soon?

Well this seems a bit relieving for fans! After not hearing about Max Payne 3 in a few years, it's about damn time that we actually got something. On Twitter, Rockstar Games tweeted links that lead to 2 screenshots for the upcoming game, with a simple small sentence, "He's coming." Screenshots are right below; check'em out!

Still, since the first unveiling in Game Informer magazine, I'm a little worried about how this installment is looking. First off, Remedy, the developers behind the first 2 games, are not involved with the project; Rockstar Games is the developer this time around. As soon as I see some sort of gameplay and what the story will consist of, that's when I'll decide if I'm excited for the game.
