Sony plans to change the name of the PlayStation Network on Feb.8th

Over the weekend Sony announced that on this Wednesday, February 8 our "PlayStation Network Accounts" will no longer go by that name. The new name for the once PSN will now be going by "Sony Entertainment Network account." If you are wondering if this will affect your PSN accounts it wont.

The name change is purely just for a face lift of sorts and you will have no need to change your username or password. Also the PSN will remain unaltered so there is a sigh of relief there.  Sony says "Changing the name 'PlayStation Network account' to 'Sony Entertainment Network account' helps clarify the unity between PSN and other Sony Entertainment Network services." Sony also stated that "The goal is for there to be one networked log-in for all Sony services."

I for one think the new name change is a bit dumb and asking friends what is their SEN account name doesn't roll off the tongue so smoothly. Oh well i'm just glad that nothing besides the name is changing and that I will still be getting the quality services that I love for my PSN... oh I mean my now SEN experience.

Jak and Daxter HD Collection Hits Store Shelves On February 7th With 100+ Trophies

Okay, right now I'm trying to contain myself due to the fact I've loved the Jak and Daxter game series ever since it debuted on the Playstation 2 over 10 years ago. Finally in just a few short weeks the Jak and Daxter collection will arrive in North America on the Playstation 3 for just $39.99. According to the Playstation.Blog where the story hit the game will include over 100+  custom Trophies created by Mass Media for all three titles in the collection to be earned.

Each of the three titles have been remastered in 720p HD and will have 3D functionality. If this trilogy sells well.. which I know it will, I'm hoping Naughty Dog decides to do the same with the Crash Bandicoot series. Get ready to see Dark Jak kicking ass and taking names yet again but this time in glorious HD.

New Mortal Kombat Game Heading Out In 2013?

If you've been under a rock for the past year then you clearly missed something big. Out of nowhere the Mortal Kombat franchise is starting to return in full force with the release of the most recent game and the web series that cost $2 million to make.

It looks like there will be a feature film reboot of the series and the director of the web series Ken Tancharoen will be helming the project. But that's not the big news here, there's word of another game releasing either with the movie when it debuts in theaters, or when it hits DVD and Blu-Ray.

"Because the Mortal Kombat games and movies are now being made under the same studio roof, the film’s release is expected to be coordinated with the next game. Emmerich and Tusjihara both said they hope the next Mortal Kombat game will come out when the movie hits theaters, or potentially in a single package along with the DVD and Blu-ray."

Even since Blizzard was hiring a "Lead Console Desinger" for the project last year, there have been a ton of rumors of Diablo 3 coming to consoles aswell as PC.  This rumor is even more confirmed by the new job listing from Blizzard, looking for a "Senior Software Engineer -- Playstation 3 Sepcialist" who's job includes "Overseeing Playstation 3 (PS3) architecture design as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximize platform performance."  Though it isn't confirmed yet, it seemes that Diablo 3 has a strong chance of coming to the PS3, and we may hear an official announcement during the week.
