Prey 2 Announced

Apparently, Prey 2, the sequel to the original Prey that came out a few years ago, will be releasing sometime in 2012. To be honest, I never even knew that the first game was even good, ha. The team behind the first game, Human Head Studios, will be developing the long-awaited sequel for the game which will be multiplatform title; PC, Xbox 360, and Playtation 3.

Back in 2009, Zenimax, parent company of the well known Bethesda softworks, bought Prey. Project Lead, Chris Rhinehart, says, "We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2. Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We're excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are," as stated in their press release.

Also mentioned in the press release is that we'll be seeing more information come up in the May issues of Xbox Official Magazine and Playstation: The Official Magazine. To add to that, there's also been a debut teaser trailer. Check it out!

Modern Warfare 3 Announcement Incoming?, [UPDATE] - Activision says "it's a hoax"

Seriously, when you look at this, you have to think to yourself, "Yeah, Modern Warfare.' There's absolutely no doubt about it with the text as well. What's even more apparent is the fact that the URL that takes you to this is http://FindMakarov.com.

Kotaku does point out that within the timeframe of this countdown, when it ends is when the 2011 Game Developer's Conference begins.

If anything does appear, GamerzItch will keep you posted

[UPDATE] - An Activision representative has confirmed that it's a hoax.

Kotaku has reported that Activision has said "we are not revealing yet" and that "Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax." Kotaku has also pointed out that when the countdown ends is the first day of GDC where EA will be showcasing Battlefield 3.

Who knows if they're just hiding the truth or if this is EA's way of trying to poke fun at the Modern Warfare games. Gamerzitch will keep you posted!

PSP2 to be as Powerful as PS3

According to a report from trade site MCV Sony has been telling "Licensees" that the PSP2 will be as powerful as the PS3.

These are big claims that fit in line with Sony's strategy for a new (and still unannounced) handheld device which is "It is specifically requesting richer, more in-depth content to differentiate its device from app-centric Apple and Android devices." The Playstation Phone comes to mind.

The report also mentions that while downloads will play a large role in the handhelds game library, retail games will stay around to help ensure that the handheld has longevity, so no more PSP go situation. There are also talks of some type of phone being included, much like the PSP's current ability to use Skype.

The first announcement of the PSP2 is expected to be January 27th with having subsequent details revealed at GDC and E3.

Now keep in mind, the PSP2 probably won't actually be as powerful as the PS3, but on the smaller screen it's very possible that it could seem like it. We'll be sure to keep you up to date on further announcements.

New Tomb Raider Game. Lara Crofts Origin Story

Crystal Dynamics is working on a New Tomb Raider game, which is said to cover the origin story of gaming icon Lara Croft. The game will focus on a young unexperienced Lara Croft and her adventure to stay alive after a storm destroys her boat and washes her up on an unknown shore.

According to Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics "Forget everything you knew about TOMB RAIDER this is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."

Personally I'm excited about this, I loved the first Tomb Raider even with all it's problems, and Guardian of Light is one of my favorite downloadable games this year. So a new Tomb Raider (as well as a younger look for Lara) is definitely one I'll be keeping an eye on.
