Skylanders: Giants Announced, Parents to Prepare for Their Kids to Begin Nagging

I'm pretty sure we're all aware of this new series that came out not too long ago. In fact, you all probably already know in retailers where almost all of the game's most wanted figurines are pretty much sold out. In addition to that, parents will come into stores with their kids expecting to be able to buy packs or standalone figurines for their game, but end up leaving in disappointment. Retail stores that actually do have them in stock are like hidden treasures and are sold out within minutes or hours! It's gotten crazy! I like to think of it as new-age Pokemon

Well, it's not stopping the publisher Activision at all with a surprise hit, especially with a sequel coming in. Yup, that's right, a sequel is coming! With the announcement so far from the publisher and Toys for Bob, it's just the calm before the storm and parents preparing to hear about the release date. As far as it goes, we only know that it will release this Fall. To accomadate with the announcement, a trailer has been released, in addition to details of the upcoming sequel.

As far as the game goes, 8 brand new characters will be released as well, specifially for the game. If you already have Skylanders figures, don't fret since you won't have to start collecting them all over again because the original figures are compatible.

Skylanders surprisingly are going moble as well and will have apps released sometime, but no date has been set.

Summing everything up, Toys R Us will also have exclusive characters, named "Legendary Trigger Happy" and "Iridescent Blue Bash" sold at their retail stores. In addition to these exclusive characters, they will also have a 30-Day exclusive "Dragon's Peak" adventure pack.

As far as getting hands-on with these, the Internation Toy Fair will be happening in New York, so expect to see more details soon.

To some of us, this is really out there and have no idea what these kids are into anymore, but if it's popular, parents, be prepared to get nagged to go out and buy these for them. I'm sorry!

Satoru Iwata Takes a 50% Pay Cut, Taking the Blame for Nintendo 3DS Sales

I think this is really the first time we've actually seen Nintendo go down the the wrong side of the road, especially after hearing that Nintendo 3DS, their current "big" handheld, has dropped it's price tag. Not to mention that it was so soon; it's been out for, what will be, 5 months.

During a meeting earlier today, Satoru Iwata of Nintendo told investors why the price cut was so sudden. Iwata acknowledged that it will help retailers at the end of the fiscal year and that it encourages developers to continue developing for the handheld.

Although, that's not the end of it. Iwata also announced that many of Nintendo's higher-ups, including himself, will be getting paycuts. With him being the most notable one, getting 50% cut in his pay, he does state that "other representative directors are taking a 30 percent cut, and other execs are taking a 20 percent cut." Before this, Iwata was getting paid to what was the equivalent of $2 million U.S. Dollars.

Prey 2 Announced

Apparently, Prey 2, the sequel to the original Prey that came out a few years ago, will be releasing sometime in 2012. To be honest, I never even knew that the first game was even good, ha. The team behind the first game, Human Head Studios, will be developing the long-awaited sequel for the game which will be multiplatform title; PC, Xbox 360, and Playtation 3.

Back in 2009, Zenimax, parent company of the well known Bethesda softworks, bought Prey. Project Lead, Chris Rhinehart, says, "We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2. Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We're excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are," as stated in their press release.

Also mentioned in the press release is that we'll be seeing more information come up in the May issues of Xbox Official Magazine and Playstation: The Official Magazine. To add to that, there's also been a debut teaser trailer. Check it out!
