Nintendo DS Lite Has Been Discontinued?

Nintendo DS has been popular and always has been since it's first iteration back in 2004 and then with the wildly popular 2nd generation, the DS Lite. After that, the DSi became popular with it's use of the camera and DS Shop Channel along with the DSi XL, mainly for it's size. Sad thing to hear though since the DS Lite's life has come to a close.
In a GameStop memo sent in to the website GoNintendo from an anonymous employee, it states:
"New DS Lite systems have been discontinued and stores will no longer be replenished on this product. Once your store sells through its current stock of these units, please remove any corresponding DS Lite (Crimson, Black, and Metallic Rose) display boxes from the sales floor and discard."
Unfortunate, but it was expected to happen. With GameStop phasing out Gameboy Advance system and game trade-ins ever since the beginning of this month, with the addition of DSi a few years ago, and the fact that the 3DS is Nintendo's new baby, it had to happen sooner or later. Oh well...either way, it's time to upgrade, unless you just spent money on anything previous the 3DS for some odd reason.
