April Fools!... It's not April Fools? So Gran Turismo 5 is Really Coming Out?

Yep, the title just about says it all. Gran Turismo 5 the game that has been in the works for almost six years, the game that may just hold the record for most delayed game of all time it's finally coming out.

According to Sony Computer Entertainment of America Gran Turismo 5 will finally be released in the US... wait for it... November 24th. Not 2011, 2010, that's just over a week from now.

If you choose to believe this (I still can't convince myself just out of habit) then you get a bonus prize. Another apology from the games creator. Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc., said in a recent statement.

"Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."

If this does in fact work out liked plan then the next few months of my life will be occupied with racing games, as the other big racing game of the year Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. As far as the Gran Turismo series go it was announced earlier this week that work on part 6 has started. So you can look forward to that on approx March 7, 2099. It will be in 3D.
