Nintendo DS Lite's Price Dropped to $99.99, Discontinuation Imminent?

Well, this could definitely be "Goodbye" for Nintendo's DS Lite. With Nintendo's DS handhelds and its upgraded iterations (DSi, DSi XL), it was time for the DS Lite to leave the market and it could definitely be soon. Not too long ago, even GameStop store memos had many wondering why they wouldn't be shipped to them anymore.

Today, Nintendo announced in their press release that on June 5th, the DS Lite would now sell at the retail value of $99.99. It's pretty logical that they would do this, especially with the Nintendo 3DS is the "new thing" for all consumers. If this is goodbye, then Fare thee well!

Nintendo Wii Price Drop Incoming - $149.99?

Since the whole rumor of the new Nintendo console that's supposedly HD, other rumors of price drop seem to be coming in! It was purely speculation before when reports started coming in from anonymous sources that Engadget had been receiving, but this one coming from a retail store seems to be real.

Coming from another anonymous source at a K-Mart, the Nintendo Wii is listed at a $149.99 price point and has been said to officially happen on May 15th. Seems like Nintendo already has enough money in their pockets and wants to get more Wii consoles out before this new HD system gets announced. Who know? Only time will tell...

PSP Go drops to $150

Well, it was pretty inevitable that this would happen: The PSP Go drops to $150. When the PSP-3000 dropped, it just had to happen. There's no way that people would continue to buy the PSP Go at a $249.99 price point. Especially since people say that it was a failure to begin with and proved that people would still buy their products physically.

I mean, purchasing digitally has become the norm, especially with Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network, but handheld gaming was not the way to go, not yet at least, in my opinion.

Although the price cut is official on Sony's website, it still hasn't taken effect in retailers just yet.

Sony PSP is now $129.99

This morning, Sony's Official Playstation Blog has announced that the PSP has gotten a new price drop, sporting at a $129.99 price tag. Along with that, they have rounded up some of the best PSP games under the "Greatest Hits" labels, such as Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Resistance: Retribution, and Toy Story 3; all for $19.99

They also lined up some new PSP "Favorites" as well, like Daxter, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM: US Navy Seals Fire Team Bravo, and Tomb Raider Anniversary; all for $9.99.

With that, Sony has launched a new "Thank You" ad campaign to promote the handheld's new price. However,  the Sony PSPGo will stay at $199.99. Guess they still want to try out digital distribution.

Looking at this new price, I'm thinking that they're already prepping for the NGP

PSP go Price Cut In US and Japan

Sony announced today that the PSP go's price will be cut down this month as the gaming industry enters the ever crucial holiday season. The PSP go will now go for $199 (a drop from $250) in the US and 16,800 yen ($207) (a drop from 26,800 yen) in Japan.

Some speculate that the price drop is a factor of the PSP go being a major flop for Sony, and it's hard to ignore the fact that this news comes shortly after hearing a rumored price/release date for Nintendo's 3DS.

I bought and love my PSP go, but still had to whip out my old PSP 2000 just to play some Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. What do you think, anyone else have a PSP go? If not will you pick one up for $200?
