Nintendo DS Lite's Price Dropped to $99.99, Discontinuation Imminent?

Well, this could definitely be "Goodbye" for Nintendo's DS Lite. With Nintendo's DS handhelds and its upgraded iterations (DSi, DSi XL), it was time for the DS Lite to leave the market and it could definitely be soon. Not too long ago, even GameStop store memos had many wondering why they wouldn't be shipped to them anymore.

Today, Nintendo announced in their press release that on June 5th, the DS Lite would now sell at the retail value of $99.99. It's pretty logical that they would do this, especially with the Nintendo 3DS is the "new thing" for all consumers. If this is goodbye, then Fare thee well!

Nintendo 3DS eShop Launches June 6

Back in January, Nintendo announced that the 3DS's eShop system and web browser would not launch with the system in March, but would come in the form of a system update. Nintendo had initially planned to release the update late in May, but they've now confirmed it will be coming in June.

The update will be available the evening of June 6, Pacific Time. The update is also suspected to add an option to transfer DSiWare games from a DSi to a 3DS. As far as what else will be included in the update Nintendo didn't give a full list, only saying that it will add "new features and enhancements" and will mostly highlight the eStore and web browser.

Nintendo has learned from the (let's be honest) attrocious shoping experience used on the Wii and DSi and has said that the eShop will offer a "drastically redesigned" shopping experience. In addition to selling downloadable games the eShop will also have its own Virtual Console selling old Gameboy, Gameboy Color, TurboGrafx-16, and Game Gear games.

As of right now the only confirmed launch game for the eShop is Capcom's Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D to Release This Holiday

When the Nintendo 3DS was unveiled at last year's E3, everyone was blown away. Sure, it's Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in your pocket, but everything looked refined, polished; just better looking! Not only that, but it'll of course have 3D support. I mean, it's a 3DS game after all, so why wouldn't it be, ha!

Since then, we haven't heard anything besides it showcasing the power of the Nintendo 3DS, but it's been said, by MCV, that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D should arrive in November; right on time for the holidays. That's all that's been confirmed with no official release date, but for the time being, it's good to see that one of my favorite games on the PS2 will be on handhelds!

Mega Man Legends 3 Could Be Released if the Protoype is a Success

With Mega Man Legends 3 coming along rather nicely and with the unfortunate leave of Keiji Inafune, it still seems like this project is still going to be active...that is if the Prototype version is taken very well by gamers and tested correctly when it launches on the same day Nintendo's eShop Channel goes online

According to Destructoid, if it sells well, Mega Man Legends 3 may get, what I would like to call a "second greenlight" for the project to make it fully go underway.

With promotion going well underway so far, on Japanese television, we get our first look at the actual gameplay. To Mega Man Legends fan, be prepared to "Squee!!!" Counting myself, with the looks of the gameplay, it plays just like the original PS1 classic. As far as character goes, you'll be playing as Barrett, a new character for the series, but that doesn't mean that you'll not be seeing good 'ol Mega Man. Barrett is the character that you'll be using in the Prototype. He's not Mega Man, but rest assured, I hope, we'll enjoy Barrett.
