Last Guardian Producer Resigns

Man, Last Guardian cannot catch a break. Last week, the games creative lead resigned from Sony and now it seems the EP is too. Yoshifusa Hayama, a former SCE vice president and until recently executive producer of Last Guardian has left Sony as well.

He is joining the Newscorp studio "Bossa" to help with the studios first 3D social game. After joining Bossa Hayama said the following about how the future of gaming: “is definitely online and thanks to recent developments with Flash 11, there is no reason why a social game can no longer be as visually stunning and as compelling as the big console titles”.

He added that, “together at Bossa we have plans to bring a plethora of games to Facebook and eventually other appropriate social media channels, which include 3D elements and can be enjoyed by all age and interest groups."

Bossa executive Henrique Olifiers spoke about the addition of Hayama to the company. “The appointment of Hayama marks a great day in our journey and of social gaming as a whole."

Bossa's first social game "Mastermind" already has an active user base of nearly 400,000.

Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection and The Last Guardian Delayed

Via the Playtation Blog, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced today that the remastered Ico and Shadow of the Colossus games, as well as The Last Guardian, are all unfortunately delayed. With all of these titles by the legendary Team ICO and mastermind, Fumito Ueda, announced at Tokyo Game Show with release dates, it's pretty dumb to hear that this happened, especially with Ico/Shadow of the Colossus remasters were suposed to be released around this time. The Last Guardian, on the other hand was supposed to be released this holiday.

"I announced at last year’s Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011. However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio’s obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing," says Fumito Ueda in a statement. "All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality.I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for “The Last Guardian” for so long, but I beg for your patience. I will also announce the new release timing at a later time."

Here's hoping that the release dates for all games won't be that much later. Fingers crossed!
