Gears of War 3 Epic Edition and Limited Edition Revealed

So the Gears of War 3 Beta has come to a close today and with that, Epic Games has kindly and officially announced the Limited Edition and Epic Edition for Gears of War 3. We had originally seen this before, listed by GameStop a bit too early, thanks to our anonymous source, but now we finally see what will be packaged in.

The following is what Microsoft has detailed that'll be right in the box for you in the Epic Edition:

  • A Limited Edition Marcus Fenix Statue – Designed by Epic Games Art Director Chris Perna and expertly crafted by the artisans at Triforce, this fine PVC statue collectible makes the ultimate living room centerpiece for any true "Gears" fan. Dimensions: height 285 mm (11.2 in.), diameter 225 mm (8.9 in.). Weight: 1.7 kg (3.7 lb.)
  • The Art and Design of Gears of War by Tom Bissell - Through unprecedented access to the Epic Games team, acclaimed author Tom Bissell (Extra Lives) gives readers an incisive behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of the most celebrated sagas in video game history with 96 pages of interviews, photos, concept artwork and more.
  • Infected Omen Weapon Pack -- Custom multiplayer skins for the game's five starting weapons; Lancer, Retro Lancer, Hammerburst, Sawed-off Shotgun, and Gnasher Shotgun.
  • All the contents of the "Gears of War 3" Limited Edition.

So what's the Limited Edition like? Well, seeing from the last bullet point is that we'll only just get a small gist of what's really special between these two editions. The Limited Edition has it's own little bit of goodies, but as said, if you purchase the Epic Edition, the cool stuff included in Limited will be packaged in as well.

The following is what we'll see inside the Limited Edition, pictured just above the text right here:

  • An Octus Award Box with Octus Service Medal – A 1:1 match in size and weight, this zinc-alloy cog-shaped medal replicates the award given to Adam Fenix in recognition of his work on the Hammer of Dawn. Dimensions: 77 mm (3 in.) x 10 mm (0.4 in.)
  • Exclusive Unlockable Adam Fenix Multiplayer Character – Each Octus Service Medal replica is engraved with a unique Xbox LIVE code that is the only way to unlock Adam Fenix in multiplayer.
  • A fabric COG Flag – Proud colors that once flew above the House of Sovereigns.

Gears of War 3 is set to release on September 20th with the retail value of $59.99. The Epic Edition will sell for $149.99 and the Limited Edition will sell for $79.99.

Also, we get an inside look at the making of the statue in the Epic Editon of Gears of War 3, including the art of the game.

If the wait is too much, and since the Gears of War 3 Beta has ended, jump on Gears of War 2, get yourself pumped up and get ready to chainsaw!

GameStop lists Gears of War 3 Limited & Epic Edition for Pre-Order

Leaks, leaks, leaks...it happens, but this one was unnannounced and we all knew that with Gears of War 3, there had to be a collector's edition for the game, but an Epic Edition of the game was something we didn't expect.

From one of our reliable sources, the same that tipped us with the NGP price, tipped us with this one. Gears of War 3 is set to have a Limited Edition version of the game and also an Epic Edition as well. The Limited Edition is set at a $79.99 MSRP while the Epic Edition goes for a whopping $149.99. There's still a standard edition, but any hardcore Gears fan would go all out for the other ones.

Nothing has been announced by Epic, nor do we know what's included inside the new editions that were put up for pre-order, but I'm imagining that during or even after the Gears of War 3 beta is going on is when we will get an official announcement.

When we get more info about what's included, be sure to check back on Gamerzitch for the latest in Gears of War 3.

Gears of War 3 Beta to begin "mid-April" and more!

For those who are pretty damn eager to play the Gears of War 3 beta, it's been announced that the beta, exclusive to owners of the Bulletstorm: Epic Edition, will begin in "mid-April". No exact date has been put, but GamerzItch will keep you posted when the date is set!

So what will we be able to exactly play on the Multiplayer beta? As far as we know, there will be 3 new "Versus" modes for people to try out, along with 4 new maps. What's really cool is the fact that, the community, via the Gears of War Facebook page, can vote which maps we can play. 2 are confirmed, the other 2 are up to us! The deadline is the end of this month, February 28th, so get to it!

If you want in-depth details on the maps you want to vote for, G4TV has you covered with 5 of 6 maps that they tried out themselves.

So what's in it for us when we play the beta, besides having fun with it? We're supposed to get an exclusive unlock for the retail release of Gears of War 3, that's what! Mainly for the hardcore fans, but you'll be able to unlock the "Retro Lancer". There hasn't been a way to unlock it just yet, but Epic Games are goin to be working on that. Sounds like it'll be a good challenge though.

If that's not enough for you, G4TV has also kindly given us a taste of the current build of the beta with a little mini-preview. In the meantime, after watching, give Epic Games and People Can Fly a favor and play Bulletstorm. We all know you only bought Bulletstorm just to get into this, ha.

Gears of War Triple Pack Official

A previously rumored Gears of War bundle is now confirmed and heading to retail. The $30 bundle will include the original "Gears of War," the sequel "Gears of War 2" as well as the "Gears of War 2: All Front's" pack. The All Fronts pack contains 19 multiplayer maps as well as the single player DLC Road to Ruin. Did I mention you get all this for $30.

If you missed either of the Gears of War games when they first came out, (or are like me and sold them) then this is a great way to experience the brotastic series. The pack will be released at retail on February 15, just in time for some post Valentines Day slaughtering.
