Seems like many developers/publishers are starting to jump in with Season Passes for their upcoming games, like L.A. Noire, Madden 2012, Mortal Kombat, with more, without a doubt, on their way too. The next big name game to put themselves in this is the highly anticipated Gears of War 3 from Epic Games. Microsoft and Epic have partnered up to have this up and going when they game gets released.
Starting at 2400 Microsoft Points ($30), the Gears of War 3 Season Pass will "guarantee a 33 percent discount on the game add-ons," compared to buying them individually the day they come out, as stated in the official press release. The season pass will entitle you to the first 4 DLC that will be available over the next year.
In addition, players will receive an exclusive Liquid Metal Weapon Set for purchasing the pass. No details have come in for that yet, but as it comes in, we will definitely let you know.
So remember when Epic Games announced that a new campaign trailer for Gears of War 3 would be released on the 28th during 2 major sports events? Yeah, that unforutnately didn't happen, but Epic Games doesn't let us down by releasing it either way! Check it out! Oh yeah, War Pigs by Black Sabbath plays in the background so that adds extra awesome for the upcoming game!
Some of us still dream of getting a replica Lancer from the awesome Gears of War games. This may be your lucky day, when it comes out at least, because Epic Games and NECA have revealed the replica Retro Lancer. The Retro Lancer will be available exclusively at GameStop as a standalone or bundled with your copy of Gears of War 3, no matter if it's the regular, Limited, or Epic Edition of the game.
The replica Retro Lancer, by itself, will sell at the retail value of $99.99, while the ones bundled with the game, obviously varies. With each edition of the game, you'll have to cough up an extra $80 if you want it bundled.
Looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 won't be the only game releasing a new trailer during a sports event! Epic Games has just announced that on May 28th, during the Champions League Final Match " at approximately 9:45 p.m. GMT, along with the NBA Playoffs on TNT, a new trailer for Gears of War 3 will be released. What we'll be seeing is our first glimpse of what the single player campaign will entail in this installment of the game and what also is going to be the last game in the trilogy.
To get a taste of it, Epic Games has released a small teaser to fill in for now. Watch it, if you can't wait. Then again...some of you probably won't be able to wait until May 28th, but hey!
