Bethesda Reveals New Game 'Dishonored' From Arkane Studios

A year after acquiring Arkane Studios-who are responsible for such games as Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and Arx Fatalis-Bethesda has finally announced the first game that the studio will be creating under Bethesda's banner.

Game Informer revealed the new game, Dishonored, as it's August cover story. Dishonored will be a first-person action stealth game, and the guys over at Game Informer do a good job describing it.

"Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride," Says GI. "It's a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone. It's a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in. It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees."

Even more exciting than that description is the big name talent attached to the game. Harvey Smith, one of the main creative forces behind the original Deus Ex and System Shock has joined as co-creative director alongside studio-head Raf Colantonio. Also Viktor Antonov, the man who designed Half-Life 2's City 17, will be giving the game his own artistic talent.

We can expect to hear more in Game Informer's forthcoming August issue.

Darksiders II Announced, In Next Month's Game Informer Magazine, Trailer Included!

Y'know, I'm really slacking in a lot of games that have come out in the last 2 years, including the first Darksiders after hearing that it wasn't that bad of a game either. Well, for fans of the first one, you're definitely in luck because Darksiders 2 has been announced! Not only was it announced, but it will also grace the cover of next month's Game Informer magazine. Obviously, we'll be getting some in-depth details in the upcoming issue.

Here's what Game Informer had to say to get our interests before the issue hits the shelves.

Fans of the first Darksiders are already familiar with Vigil’s fiction – the eternal war that rages between the forces of Heaven and Hell. With Darksiders II, Vigil looks to deliver a richer experience as players  explore more dungeons, talk with a variety of NPCs, and experiment with a detailed loot system. The horseman War has been sidelined, so it’s up to his brother, Death, to travel through the world of the Abyss and attempt to restore humanity after its destruction during the Apocalypse.

"SSX: Deadly Descents" Renamed to Just "SSX," Details Emerge

Originally unveiled at the Spike 2010 VGAs, SSX: Deadly Descents has gotten fans concerned since then, but with new details emerging about the reboot for the franchise, it's safe to say that SSX something to look into as time goes on. The one thing that's noticeable, even in the header of this news story is that the game has dropped "Deadly Descents" from its title.

Game Informer was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with the Creative Director of the game, Todd Batty. Apparently, Deadly Descents is a game mode in the game and "is all about survival gameplay." He also said that, "Speed Descent" and "Tricky Descent" will be other modes. Judging by the names "Speed Descent" may be like a time attack mode, while "Tricky Descent" sounds like a mode to set up a high score with, well...tricks!

People also complained that in the game's first teaser, it didn't look like the classic games, but rest assured, it'll all be in there.

SSX is set to release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
