Yesterday Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft, posted on his Tumblr has stepped down from his position. Notch states that Jens Bergensten is now the new lead developer of Minecraft. Notch also plans to keep tabs on Minecraft, but his main objective is to rest for a while before starting on a new project. Here's hoping that Bergensten can keep bringing us that Minecraft magic and that Notch's next project is just as awesome.
